If you have read my previous posts and comments on this subreddit, you'll know that I'm a huge proponent of Bitcoin in specific, and of crypto-currencies in general. I think that they're revolutionary, game changing, world shattering, and the tip of an iceberg that could potentially restore freedom back to the US and the rest of the world.

I haven't sold any and don't plan to. I believe in the fundamentals of Bitcoin and am in this to change the world.
Quote:
Isn't it possible that this was an ideological attack rather than a criminal one? The fed, central banks, governments, whoever. They all have a vested interest in the failure of bitcoin and really - on the grand scheme of things how expensive would it be for them to destroy it? Buy up all the coins, create a crazy bubble, and then ddos the exchanges and bam, the wheels come off.
Nog geen twaalf uur voor de crash:

Quote:
It should be very obvious to all of you that the "mainstream media" and "economics academia" (both mouthpieces for entrenched powers) has more or less unanimously decided during the part few days that Bitcoin is the "volatile bubblylicious deflationary spiral tulip funbux craze that drug dealers, pederasts and terrorists like" (did I summarize that right?).

It is important to understand that these FUD attacks are coming from a place of terror of the unknown, where Bitcoin is the unknown, and these people (venal, or ignorant, or lackeys) are reacting with the standard social defense mechanisms to protect their interests and belief systems.

I don't say that lightly -- agree or not, you all know very well that most people (statists) fervently believe that currency, much like roads, must necessarily be a monopoly of the state, and they cannot even begin to conceive how these goods can come about otherwise.

Of course... any real-world evidence that these goods can exist and work without being a state monopoly questions this core belief 99% that of the populace have faith in. Bitcoin is that proof by counterexample in the domain of money -- it is the first currency in a long time that has market value because people truly voluntarily choose it, rather than because people are ordered under threats to accept and use it. And so, Bitcoin raises the question that must never be answered.

And what do dogmatic humans generally do when faced with a taboo? They fog, they attack, they gaslight, they change the subject, they lie. They'll do anything to get you to "shut up about the question, because it's making me uncomfortable". It is what it is.

The plan moving ahead is to continue using and buying Bitcoin, talking to people about Bitcoin, demonstrating Bitcoin to others, and generally continuing to live a decent life. Whether you choose to ignore or question the dogs, ultimately you must lead by example, lead by honesty, lead by nonaggression.

Pitch in with your views here. Have a good day, guys!

As the Bitcoin price nears $150, the following struck me.

Value of spice melange During the days of the Corrino Empire, the spice was the rarest and most valuable commodity in the known universe. It was said that it was so valuable that one briefcase full of spice would be enough to purchase an entire planet. Great Houses of the Imperium were often considered rich and influential if their ruling members could afford to consume melange regularly, or, worse still, stockpile it. However, stockpiling melange was generally considered to be a very risky and dangerous endeavour, since the Emperor, the Bene Gesserit, the Bene Tleilax, the Spacing Guild, and rival Great Houses could potentially regard such stockpiles as a threat to their position within the Imperium, as well as a threat to their supply.

Lets continu the analogy,

Paul Atreides = Satoshi Nakamoto * Fremen = us, the Bitcoin enthusiasts * The planet Arrakis = The Internet * Sietches = Bitcoin miners * Spice melange = Bitcoin* The house Harkonnen = Banks* The house Corinno = Current global monetary system backed by global governments* The house Atreides = the people in a stage of adopting Bitcoin*

Fast forward a few years:

The Atreides Empire was the term by which the Imperium was known when it was ruled by House Atreides. It was established when the Duke Paul Atreides successfully led a Fremen uprising on Arrakis against the Corrino Empire. One of the other Great Houses, House Harkonnen, was also destroyed in this uprising.

Personally, I can only see the end result being all world currencies being replaced by cryptocurrencies. I've only been involved for a few weeks, and I don't hold many coins, but I like to consider myself well above average intelligence and I have devoted probably more than 8 hours a day since then analyzing every aspect of this. What are the other possible outcomes of this, in your opinion?
